30 Day Challenge: Day One

So now that the wedding is over, I can use this blog for whatever I feel like. But I'll probably keep the name, I have nothing to change it to anyways haha. So here's a challenge thing I found to keep me entertained!



Basic facts about me:

Freak out.

And surprisingly not even about the wedding. Yesterday was an odd moment at work, some girls from Toni and Guy came in to work giving us discount cards, and so I asked if they knew my friend that's training there. They did, and they were so confused as to why I went to school with her, have my license, and instead of working in a salon, was working in retail. And I can't help but feel ashamed. I've had my license for nearly 2 months, I've applied at a grand total of 1 salon. A job that I thought I wanted so badly, that there couldn't possibly be anything better than, and now I don't know if I even want to work there.
Here's my problem; I HATE working with girls, but I don't like men's cuts very much. I hate all of the catty bullshit that comes with working with 30+ girls (and gay guys). With the exception of my two best friends, I really don't have any close girl friends. I get along with Michael's friends better than any of the girls at my school. Guys are just funnier, and way more fun to be around. If you do something they don't like, they tell you. They don't tell everyone BUT you, and expect you to figure it out. It just seems like most girls have a giant dildo in their ass 24/7. God forbid women have a sense of humor.
Right now my job has people that I get along with/can tolerate which makes it so much harder to leave. I actually know and like most of the girls I work with. If it wasn't so ridiculously against the rules, I actually would have invited two of the associates to my bridal shower. But nope. I would lose my job.

I'm just so frustrated with everything. I feel like I'm supposed to leave my job for one that's supposedly 'better' but that I honestly feel like I would hate. Its not the job that I would hate though, I like doing hair, I just would hate working in a salon full of a bunch of stuck up girls. (so basically any salon.) And at this point, I feel like I'm failing.

Falling Into Place

I'm almost caught up on that annoying red list of things that should have been done on theknot.com But everything left is completely manageable, and I have the funds for. The only things I really need to do before October, is buy the rings, decorate the centerpieces, book the transportation and the hotel room. Dad is being so so helpful with everything, he offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner (I just need to pick a place) and the hotel for the night.
Flower meeting is Wednesday morning, meeting with the chair cover people Wednesday afternoon, and we booked the officiant today, and I took my state board today as well. I feel like four million pounds just lifted off my shoulders. I went from "HOLY SHIT THE WEDDING IS LIKE TOMORROW AND I HAVE NOTHING DONE" to "Wow, I still have three months, I have time" I haven't been this relaxed in what feels like forever. Such a good feeling.
Also when do you guys want to get together and do the centerpieces? I don't work for once on Saturday, so if Haleigh, you don't, that'd be good. But like I said, we still have three months haha.
Welp, that's all I can think of that you guys might want filling in on. OTHER THAN I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE COSTUME I FOUND AT SPIRIT. SOOO EXCITED!!!! Soo yeah :)

Check, check, check!

Ordered three things today, shoes, veil, and tiara. Combined total: $70! I'm in love with Ebay right now. I was going to get a $50 tiara from Davids Bridal, but I found one I like for like $11, with shipping, $16.95. I had no clue what I wanted in a veil until today, and I got one for $17, free shipping! Shoes were $35, which is meh, but at least I finally got them.
Yesterday we met with the minister, who is awesome. He's a little pricey, but hopefully we'll get some help from Michael's family, since thats something the groom's family usually pays for. But we'll see. The only other things that are really stressing me out, are the videographer, and picking a menu. Everything else if pretty much taken care of. But I'll work on that later today.
Also! I need to make an appointment for flowers and such as well.

Watching Scott Pilgrim

for the 400th time. I love HBO. It saves me from having to hook up the Xbox to watch the movie.
Anywho.. cake tasting was amazing. The chef was awesome, and totally work with our ideas. However, we need to get permission from the devils, so that Mikey can use the logo for his cake haha. I guess this bakery almost got sued by Microsoft for making an Xbox groom's cake. But other than that, it all went fantastic.
The food tasting finally got rescheduled for next Tuesday, which is perfect. I just need to make sure I don't work. BUTTT the schedule for next week still isn't out. Annoying.
Also! We're meeting with the photographer on the 7th! I'm so excited to be getting so much done!
Two more things happening soon, the senior field trip is on June 2nd, and I'm super excited to go visit salons. I'M ALMOST DONEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd be done sooner, if I could have gone to school today. But nooo. Michael's brother is a dick. He kept turning off the dryer will all of my clothes in it. Thanks to him, I had literally no black clothes to wear to school today. Thanks dick.
I'm getting so excited for Vegas! I bought my ticket this week, so I'll definitely be getting hours for this. Wooo!!!

Cake tasting tomorrow! Meet with photographer on June 7th! And there should be a rescheduling of the food tasting that got cancelled soon! I AM ACCOMPLISHING STUFF! I'm still getting stuff ready for the design meeting at the castle, but I have time before I need to schedule that. I do have some ideas about flowers though. Thank god. I really should be looking at some cake ideas for tomorrow right now, but I really am just happy that I'm finally back on track. I think next week, Mike and I are going to go look at some wedding bands that we like. Rather, he will look at some wedding bands. I already know which on I want. (Spoiler: It has pink! <3)
Onto bad stuff, still no check from Mikey's grandpa or aunt. Which means I'm STILL out $4000. And as of June, I will have been for five months. I love life. I'm sort of convinced that its just not coming. And that means my budget is just completely fucked. Which means if it doesn't come, I'll be looking into loan options. (which, in all honestly, is fine. It's not ideal, but at least I'll be building credit) That little bit of hope in my head is still hanging on though.. I guess we'll see how long it takes before it dies..

VEGAS IN 3 WEEKS AND 5 DAYS!!!

Soo, not a ton has happened since the last post. But I'm updating somewhat frequently again! Which is good!
Anyways, the save the dates are here.. well, in Red Rock so I need to go get them. But here! Next is finalizing the people I'm sending them to, having mom address them, and then wooo!! Mail time! Next stop, photographer. Hopefully that check gets here soon...

Clearly Bin Laden dying motivated me to actually get shit done. His livelihood was holding me back, obviously.
In other news, I AM NOT watching Desperate Housewives thanks to the news. And I spent my day at a women's expo. ALL DAY. Purely because I got hours for it. It's fine I guess, me and Kristen had fun at least. It was just a long day. One that could have ended happily with some Desperate Housewives, but I guess Bin Laden being found dead works too.

If Only It Was Saturday

Saturdays are long. Two clients and $20 later, I'm pooped. I know I should be doing things other than sitting in front of my computer, staring at the screen and contemplating what to do. But I'm not. My brain is done for today. And tomorrow I have this stupid womens expo that I'm getting hours for. YAY I love being in a giant room with a bunch of feminists. My favorite thing to do on a Sunday.

Almost as fun as wedding planning.
I wish I had something important to comment on. Like yay! finally ordered invites! or yay! finally ordered samples of party poms! Or what would be fantastic is, Yay! I finally booked the photographer! When that day comes, I will be shocked. I'm just done with the wedding shenanigans. Except I kind of need to be doing that... I just really want to get excited about it again. Its all just calling people, making appointments, and spending money that's never going to be paid back to me.
Whatever. I'm bored, this isn't entertaining me like I thought it would. So I guess I'll just go play Sims or something.

Well.. four months later..

I hate wedding planning. No surprise there I guess. I have so much picked out, and so many ideas that just don't flow together, that I don't even know what I want anymore!
I take that back, I know of one thing I want for sure: I want to be married to Michael. I want my name to forever be Marrissa Lombardi. All this wedding bullshit means nothing compared to that.
Yes yes, a wedding will be fun. But the planning all of the fun, that's whats killing me. I haven't even sent out save the dates. I'm THAT far behind. I have gone to zero tastings for dinner. Why you ask? Because I hate everything. I'm too picky to even bother. I don't want to go, take time out of my day, just to taste food that I'm not even going to like. Cake tasting.. that's another story. I'm just being lazy on that one.
To be honest, I finally have some sort of idea as to what I want my flowers to be, but knowing my luck, those aren't going to be available to me. They're a bright pink lily with a black center and little black spots. Fantastic. Since no flowers are black, (or any that are would look a little goth) these are perfect. Why haven't I gone to the Castle to talk about the flowers I want? Oh yea, I don't want them to tell me it's not possible. IF I CAN ORDER THEM ONLINE, SO CAN THEY. I don't want to yell and be a bridezilla, but sometimes I feel like it has to happen if I want everything to be my way.
I think that was my first bridezilla comment. Oh god, here it comes...

Let the Planning Begin!

I'm engaged!! And now this blog will be entirely devoted to getting everyone up to date about what's going on! :) You guys both know, I tend to tell one of you something, then forget to tell the other, so this is probably a good idea to keep you both informed.
First off, I changed the background to match most of the invite samples I ordered. :) My colors are pink, black, white, and silver (like rhinestone accents) I'm getting married on December 2nd of 2011, at the Castle at Ashley Manor.
First order of business. I found a save the date card that I REALLY like, but they don't offer samples of it. So I'll post it here.

So right now I think that's about it. I don't THINK I have anything more to share, soo yea. Let me know what you think :)
